December, when people’s thoughts turn to family, annual traditions, and holidays. And in Arizona, when we finally think about trading the tank tops and shorts for sweaters and jeans. December is also the time of year when people often get into the holiday spirit by engaging in acts of generosity and service.
New Pathways matches have brought their joyful spirit to the holidays and beyond with some special traditions. Ten years ago, Wendell gave his word to mentees, Chris and Mark, that every holiday season they would share dinner together. Every year they go to get teppanyaki and reflect over the past year while looking to the future.
What if we could extend the holiday spirit out beyond December 31st? Wendell, Mark, and Chris keep their commitments alive the year through. Read on to learn how you can also extend that holiday spirit all year round.
Toyota Financial Services aspires to be a good corporate citizen and give back to the community. In fact, it’s part of their company DNA. This community spirit, and their commitment to making a difference valley-wide, and not just in their own backyard, is what inspired them to get involved with New Pathways. Through their involvement efforts, they aim to “make life easier” for communities where their employees live and work. They “make life easier” for our youth by fully investing in our mentoring and afterschool programs. While TFS initially got involved as a corporation, that corporate commitment inspired some of their team members to make the personal commitment to mentor in our program.
At New Pathways, TFS recognized a partner striving to impact the lives of our communities’ most vulnerable youth. What started off as a contribution to support our teen programming quickly blossomed into a relationship that branched out and made a difference for all our youth. By hosting the annual holiday party for our program’s youngest participants to sponsoring college scholarships and internships for our High School seniors, Toyota Financial Services has supported the unbroken spirit of our youth for the last 13 years.
TFS knows that infusing community involvement into your company’s business strategy has real business benefits. It helps build your company’s reputation which can increase awareness with customers. Additionally, providing company sponsored volunteer opportunities for your team members can increase their engagement, and pride in your company which can result in a stronger workforce.
